After a 30 hour bus ride, i finally made it to the wonderful, overtly french, Montreal, Quebec. I am staying in a quaint 200 year old heritage building right in the centre of 'Old Montreal' and a short walk downtown. The streets are made of cobblestone and a small and windy. Similar to the Rocks in Sydney.
Today i walked downtown and there was a massive christmas parade on, lots of elves and santas and fairies and unicorns. The main street here is called Rue Saint Catherine, lots of shops and bits and pieces. It was funny seeing the parents with their overwhelmed children fight for the small bag of gifts santa was throwing out to the crowd.
In desparation i learnt how to make coffee in the strange coffee machines they have here, the ones that make it and then sit and stew for most of the day. It comes out bitter and watery, a lot of sugar is needed.
When i passed a dark jazz bar last night I could not resist the sign advertising creme brule. Despite their cool accents, they cannot make them as good as the Snails.
It is getting quite cool here now, i am wearing gloves out and i bought some cool shoes today. They are tall coverse boots made from a reddish upholstery fabric.
xx.
