My last day in Montreal, tomorrow i have a flight to Halifax early in the morning. The sun is shining again today! The third day in a row.

I'm looking forward to getting to Halifax as i'll have a few things i need to do. Such as my enrollment at NSCAD and finding a place to live. I am very excited about having a home again! I realised last night that i haven't had my own bit of space for a month and a half, and you dont realise how much you need it! well, how much i need it.

By coincidence, there is was a professor staying at this hostel aswell who had done some teaching at NSCAD. I asked him some questions about it and he told me some useful things. He was giving a talk at a university here in Montreal about Islam and democracy. He said at one of the talks he gave they arranged four big army guys in boots with guns to stand behind him and protect him!

Right now i'm just munching on some toast for breakfast and sipping some strong sweet coffee. I thought that Montreal was a nice city, in some places it seems to be quite run down. But right next to an abandoned building there will be this super new fantastic one. They are restoring a lot of the buildings and roads here. I kinda like the old run down buildings though, they're much more pretty and photogenic.

I am dying to get some photos processed! Hopefully i'll be able to use the resources at NSCAD before i actually start and i'll be able to put some pictures up on here!

Goodbye Montreal.

To Halifax!...

Wednesday in Montreal brings sun for the second day! Seeing light in Montreal is quite an event, people tend to emerge from their hybernations and sit in parks! I have been reading a lot of tourist brochures and it seems that everything shuts down around this time, the markets are called off, there are no festivals...so it's just me and another australian boy in this hostel, playing chess.

I have a big fat blister on my left heel, it seems everytime i buy a new pair of converse i get one right in the same spot.

Tonight i'm going to head to the Museum of Contemporary Art as they have free entry on wednesday night.

It's Monday in Montreal. I'm having a big ol' lazy day. I wandered downtown today in search of a photo lab. The frustrating thing here is that their generic paper sizes are different to Australia's, so i had to set up my documents all over again.

The weather is cooling off, today is around 1 degrees celcius, and overcast.

I've been living off a 2.69$ packet of cous cous and a 3.19$ triangle of Danish Blue Cheese. And lots of free coffee.

After a 30 hour bus ride, i finally made it to the wonderful, overtly french, Montreal, Quebec. I am staying in a quaint 200 year old heritage building right in the centre of 'Old Montreal' and a short walk downtown. The streets are made of cobblestone and a small and windy. Similar to the Rocks in Sydney.

Today i walked downtown and there was a massive christmas parade on, lots of elves and santas and fairies and unicorns. The main street here is called Rue Saint Catherine, lots of shops and bits and pieces. It was funny seeing the parents with their overwhelmed children fight for the small bag of gifts santa was throwing out to the crowd.

In desparation i learnt how to make coffee in the strange coffee machines they have here, the ones that make it and then sit and stew for most of the day. It comes out bitter and watery, a lot of sugar is needed.

When i passed a dark jazz bar last night I could not resist the sign advertising creme brule. Despite their cool accents, they cannot make them as good as the Snails.

It is getting quite cool here now, i am wearing gloves out and i bought some cool shoes today. They are tall coverse boots made from a reddish upholstery fabric.
